Posted 10.03.2010 14:40:40 UTC Updated 10.03.2010 14:49:29 UTC Bulgarian capital Sofia hosts a photograph exhibition of the great Ottoman architect Sinan on initiation of Turkey’s Sofia Embassy, under the auspices of the Presidency.
The exhibition presents major works of Ottoman architecture in the 16th century. A documentary film regarding the techniques of the time was displayed at the inauguration ceremony.
Among various public buildings, Semiliye Mosque, in Turkey’s northwestern city of Edirne, appears to be the greatest work of Sinan.
The expo draws wide-scale attention from Bulgarians as the Banya Başı Mosque and Kara Mosque –later converted into a church – stands in Sofia as works of architect Sinan.
Bulgaria’s National Archeology Museum hosts the exposition until March 14.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Sofia, Mehmet Gücük, said the exhibition will be opened in other European capitals as well.
